Updates For May 2018
Finally the weather has settled down and the sun has made an appearance. Everything is starting to grow and the fishing has been picking up accordingly. Some cracking fish have been caught over the past few weeks up to 12lb on various tactics. Boilies are producing the better stamp of fish and method feeders and small hookbaits are producing numbers of mixed species.
We have been working hard at the fishery and more improvements have been made to the swims we have also renumbered the pegs (just to confuse everyone mainly me). Swims 1 and 2 have been replaced with a new disabled friendly swim to replace the old disabled peg. Just like the old one this can be booked by a registered disabled angler and if not booked can be fished by anyone. We will let you know when you arrive if this is booked.
Willow Pond has been producing some cracking rudd and skimmers to 1lb+ as well as carp and tench to 3lb +. Keep it simple on here for best results.
We have added to our Kipper Baits boilie range with the addition of Squid and Scopex again in 14mm and made with the same ingredients as the hugely successful Plumb flavour. Both these flavours have been working really well over the last month and we always have plenty in stock. Please remember these are a fresh (the reason they work so well) freezer bait and will only keep a week or so out of the freezer.
The fish will be spawning anytime over the next month and some restrictions may be in place when this is happening I would urge all anglers to contact me before coming to the fishery at this time of year.
I’m sure most of you are aware of the disaster at the lough in cork with the suspected outbreak of CEV (carp edema virus) being the cause. A lot of fishery’s have had to close to minimise the risk of this spreading luckily we have been able to stay open as we have had our own bio security measures in place from the start. All anglers need to do there bit and take extra care with their own Bio-security measures and always clean and more importantly dry your gear before fishing another water. You can purchase disinfectant called Virkon aquatic online to clean your gear with very cheaply or Pro-lodgic do some disinfectant wipes and kits called Stri-7. We all need to do our bit to protect the sport we all love and stop this and other viruses spreading.
Giving the current outbreak we have stepped up our bio-security and changed a few rules to protect the fishery.
NO FISH OF ANY SIZE TO BE UNHOOKED OVER YOUR KNEE ON BOTH LAKES THEY MUST ALL BE PLACED ON THE MATS.
Small fish on willow pond may still be swung to hand.
NO WATER BUCKETS OR GROUNDBAIT BUCKETS TO BE PUT IN THE LAKE PLEASE USE OUR BUCKETS TO COLLECT WATER.
ALL UNHOOKING CRADLES/MATS SHOULD BE KEPT WET AT ALL TIMES A BUCKET OF WATER IS ESSENTIAL AGAIN PLEASE USE OUR BUCKETS.
IF YOU HAVE FISHED ANYWHERE ELSE BEFORE YOU COME HERE ALL YOUR GEAR MUST BE CLEANED AND DRYED.
WE HAVE A TEMPORARY FOOT DIP IN PLACE ALL ANGLERS MUST USE THIS BEFORE ENTERING THE FISHERY.
We wish the Lough in Cork, Belvelly lake and all the anglers that fish them all the best for the future and if there is anything we can do to help please get in touch.
DATES FOR THE DIARY
Our Charity competition and BBQ will be taking place on Saturday the 28th July and all proceeds will be going to support Craigavon Intensive Care Unit we will provide more details when we get it all finalised.

A Tribute To Niall O’Hanlon
As some of you will be aware recently we sadly and very regrettably lost one of our very special young members, Niall O’Hanlon from Magheralin who tragically lost his life through a recent road accident.
Niall was a real character, a huge Liverpool FC fan and a great friend of everyone who had known him at Ivy Lodge Carp Fishery.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this most difficult time.
He will be sadly missed by all of us and we have no doubt he is out there somewhere catching the fish of his dreams!
Tight lines Niall…

“When you walk through a storm, hold your head up high
And don’t be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm, there’s a golden sky
And the sweet, silver song of a lark
Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you’ll never walk alone
You’ll never walk alone
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you’ll never walk alone
You’ll never walk alone”
