Updates February – March 2015

Welcome to the Updates February – March 2015 Ivy Lodge Carp Fishery catch reports and updates blog. We hope the blog will interest you and help to keep you up to date with what’s happening on the banks. All Members please feel free to send us your pictures and catch reports and we’ll try to add them to the next monthly reports blog. As well as your reports we’ll be contributing our own catches from sessions too. Please send your reports in an email to ivylodgecarpfishery@yahoo.co.uk with the email subject “Pictures” and add your pictures as JPEG attachments. We’ll do the rest…..

All members old and new are reminded to read the literature that was given to them this year regarding bait and rigs these rules will be enforced from now on and bait and rig checks will be happening on a regular basis so if you are unsure please ask.

Also please remember do not throw left over bait into the lake after you have finished fishing (unless its closing time) either take it home, give it to other anglers or leave it with us as it affects other anglers still fishing or those who may arrive after you have finished.

FIRST SIGNS OF SPRING

With the fishery being frozen over for a week in early February (it had to happen at some stage) sport has been up and down with the fish holding in certain areas and not willing to move (typical of this time of year). Anglers that have braved the cold conditions have still been catching well once they have found where the fish are comfortable to be. The Method feeder with krill pellets and fishing for a bite at a time has been producing the best results. Hopefully that is the worst of the bad weather over for the year. With spring just around the corner and the fish starting to wake up sport should soon steady up. Well done to new member Mark Prigent who after a few slow sessions (due to the lake being half froze) has had some great sport on the feeder with up to 18 carp and tench in a session to 6lb. Ray Heatley and Hugh coffey have been regularly on the fish with up to 8 carp in a short session. Frankie Orr with up to 7 fish in a few hours. Chris Foulis with 20 + carp in a session great for this time of year. Craig Foulis with carp to 8lb. Tommy Black also found the fish with 10+ carp to 6lb on a cold February day. David Crumley (after testing his new pole) caught well with fish to 8lb on the feeder. Conrad McCaleenon 20+ carp to 5 lb. New members David Hatton and Stephen Kerr with 7 carp and tench each on their first trip to Ivy lodge.
