The challenging Northern Irish weather can make things very unpredictable when it comes to catching carp and with cool temperatures, overnight frosts, heavy snow and rain March proved to be very patchy fishing however towards the end of March and now into April spring has been showing some signs of arriving and with that has come some notable catches for the time of year.

The best so far this year and very well done to Paul McBride from Portadown who had 24 carp and tench up to 5 lb during a recent session along with son Mark who managed 14 carp and tench with most fish coming to pole and feeder fished maggots and pellet.

Also well done to Morris Flanagan from Lurgan who had 11 carp and tench on pole fished pellet on a colder day when most other anglers struggled.

Most anglers have been catching on maggots, corn, pellets and small popup boilies which are all always available at the onsite tackle shop.

Although Ivy Lodge Carp Fishery has only been open a short time, this year is showing very positive signs after an intensive 4 year stocking program with many different sizes and strains of beautifully marked carp starting to make a first time appearance with many anglers commenting about the condition and quality of these fish.
