IVY LODGE RAISES Over £900 FOR CHARITY

What another mixed bag of weather we have had again this summer fortunately the fishing has remained steady and good results have been had by all with lots of super catches including Thomas Mcalinden with 80 carp and tench in a session this is a new record for Ivy lodge and shows how well the fishery is coming on.

A big issue is still damage to fish I am still seeing a lot of anglers not playing and handling fish correctly if you see anyone struggling please let me know so I can advise them. I try to be on the fishery as much as I can but I still have to get the work done so I can only see so much. If you are unsure of anything especially unhooking and handling the fish please ask me and I will be glad to help.

Another issue is appropriate tackle please be aware that from the start of next season only anglers with adequate tackle will be allowed to fish which means no rods higher than 2.5lb test curve, No spinning rods, pike rods etc. Only specifically designed tackle i.e. float rods, feeder rods, carp rods and good quality poles with at least a 16 elastic allowed. Also please ensure your reel matches the rod as a big reel and light rod puts too much pressure on the fish.

Also can all anglers please ensure that they pick up and remove all access line I am constantly picking up yards and yards of line that anglers have just dumped at their backside this will not be tolerated as it is harmful to wildlife and my lawnmower lol. Anyone caught leaving any line or rubbish including cigarette butts on their peg will be banned immediately.

Our annual charity day on the 6th August was another huge success we managed to raise A MASSIVE £940 for our chosen charity PANCREATIC CANCER ACTION thank you to everyone for your support. With 37 angler’s turning up to fish we had to split the match in 2 halves which worked out quite well in the end. It was great to see such a good turn out a big thank you to you all.

The fishing on the day was pretty good considering the pressure on the lake with 4 fish out over 8lb and lots of smaller fish caught Rab even managed a new species of stick fish on peg 7 lol.

There were 2 fish caught at 8lb 4oz so we had to give first place to the angler with the most fish. Well done to Thomas Mcalinden who won on peg 15 with 8lb 4oz and 6 other fish to 8lb. 2nd place went to Paul Fisher on peg 1 with 8lb 4oz and a couple of smaller carp as well 3rd place would have been Robert Bailey on peg 8 with 8lb 2oz (we all know it was really Faye that caught it lol).

The BBq was well attended to and the crack was mighty a big thank you to Glenn Nicholl for putting on the music it really made the night with it being after 2am before we were finished I’m sure there were plenty of sore heads the next day (mine included).

Thanks to Chris Quigley and Draynes farm for supplying the refreshments for the BBQ and everyone at Kingsway Butchers in dunmurry for supplying the food. Also thanks to Peter at Irish Bait And Tackle and Billy Hall for donating the prizes for the raffle. Thanks to Elaine and the girls and Deborah and Connor for helping make the lunch on the day. Thanks to Mel Percy, Derek Curran, Damian Willis, and Tim Murphy for helping with the weighing.

And again A MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who took part and helped make the day a huge success. Looking forward to next year already (apart from the sore head dam wine!!!)
