SEPTEMBER – OCTOBER UPDATE

That was a summer to remember record breaking temperatures and next to no rain certainly not what we are used to in Northern Ireland. The fishing was a bit up and down all summer with the high water temperatures and low oxygen levels but the growth rates of the fish have been good with doubles up to 13lb now coming out on a daily basis.

Autumn started off much the same dry and mild and the fishing has been good. Most of the better fish have been coming out on boilies from Kipper Baits that we stock in the shop. I have tested these against many other brands and Kipper boilies always out fish anything else,  I believe the reason they work so well is the fact that these are made fresh for us on a regular basis with top quality ingredients and have not been sitting on a shelf or in a freezer for months before you buy them. Let’s face it our own food always tastes better when it’s freshly made from fresh ingredients so why would the fish be any different.

As we are now heading towards winter it’s a good idea to use up all the bait you have so you can start fresh in the new season. Most good groundbaits, boilies and pellets have a use by on them but even this is too long, they may look ok but the ingredients in them go off and can make a huge difference to your catch rates and we also do not want bad quality bait going into the lake. We always keep the pellets etc. in the shop fresh so you get the best quality bait.  As a general rule only buy as much as you need for a few sessions and use up or throw out whatever you have left at the end of each year and start fresh, it will make a huge difference to your fishing.

Looking to the future and we have big changes coming next year keep an eye on the website or have a chat with me when you’re out. Hopefully the winter will be short and we will soon be heading into spring for it all to start again.
