Spring 2019 Update
We have had a crazy mild winter this year and spring has started the same with the mild conditions the water temperature has not dropped too far and the fish have continued to feed steadily, and some cracking fish have been caught with doubles now coming out on a daily basis up to 13lb.
We netted the fishery again in early February and once again growth rates have been outstanding and all our fish are in top condition which proves the rule changes I have made were the correct decision.
Boilies have been the best tactics with our frozen range from Kipper Baits producing the best results.
Pellets will still produce the best catch rates with a variety of species but if it’s those larger carp you want get on to then boilies are best.
As most of you will be aware we have introduced some changes this year as the fishery has progressed and is now heading the specimen route we have taken the decision to ban pole fishing and light feeder rods on the main lake.
This has been done in the interest of fish safety as too many fish are lost and damaged on these methods, your rods should now be at least 1.75 tc and above for the main lake.
Poles and light feeder rods are still allowed on Willow Pond and now that we have made this pleasure fishing pond slightly larger you can now fish all tactics on it.
We have removed most of the smaller silver fish apart from some large rudd and roach so it should make for some great sport with tench to 3lb and carp up to 6lb.
We understand that these decisions may not suit everyone but the welfare of our fish comes first when you consider that 7 years ago most of our fish were only 2-3 inches I am extremely proud to now have fish approaching mid double figures.
I have worked extremely hard to get the fishery to where it is now and will continue to keep improving the facilities.
We always try our best to cater for everyone but this is not always possible and some people may wish to move on, this is your decision and we wish you all the best.
We have recently set-up a Private Facebook group for members only, this is proving popular with daily updates on what we are currently up to at the fishery and also provides regular catch updates. Please speak to myself when you’re out and I can add you to the group.
We also have our YouTube channel, why not check it out and subscribe to be kept up to date with the latest content.
Elaine has now started providing hot food (breakfasts) in the mornings, please see menu below or speak to myself or Elaine and we will get you a menu. All orders must be in before 9 am and if you can please text Elaine or myself your order the night before or at latest before you arrive so we know exactly what we need to leave out and how much we need to cook.
Food will be served between 9 am and 11 am and please bear with us when waiting on your order as we have a family to look after as well as run the business!
Thanks to everyone who renewed their membership, we are full again this year and anyone wishing to join in the future please get in touch and we will add your name to the waiting list.
There also seems to be a little confusion about the how we run things…..
“Ivy Lodge Carp Fishery” is not a “club”…………
All membership to the fishery access is by invitation only and is valid for one year, however current membership “does not” guarantee you a future membership place.
“Current paid Membership” ONLY entitles you access to the fishery during opening hours and nothing more, and If you wish to fish then you pay for a fishing day ticket also.
As always …..we advise all current members to get your renewal membership confirmed and paid for on time each year as there is an ever growing waiting list.
Dates For The Diary
All members are reminded that once the fish start spawning usually around the middle of May we will close the fishery for a few days to let the fish recover and we will notify members on our Facebook private group and on this website.
