THE SUN SHINES ON IVY LODGE

April got off to a flying start with a warm and sunny Easter weekend (there’s a first). With the first few warm days of the year the fish started to wake up with the tench starting to show and carp cruising in the afternoon sunshine. Good fishing was had by all with the most of the bites coming early in the morning or in the evening with the mid-day period being very warm and bright most of the fish were up cruising in the sunshine (who can blame them). The carp were well up for floaters in the warm evenings with lots of anglers catching good fish off the top. This is an exciting although sometimes extremely frustrating way to catch carp as some of our members found out judging by the names they were calling the carp usually starting with B####### and ending How the F### did I miss that lol. (Please refrain from using this sort of language as the young carp have started to repeat it).

We have a new 11mm floating carp pellet in stock for surface fishing only these or pedigree chum mixers are to be used (we would prefer you to use the carp pellet).

Unfortunately the frost and cold winds returned at the end of the month which has slowed things a bit due to the water temperature dropping. The fish have still been active though with good catches still being reported. Let’s hope that’s not the summer over and we have some more good weather soon.

Willy McCaleenon 14+ carp and tench.
