The sun finally appeared in April and things have now thankfully warmed up a bit the water temperature has risen and the fish starting to get caught regularly and some crackers among them to.

The hard work in the winter netting and thinning our stock to keep levels healthy and sustainable is certainly paying off with multiple doubles up to 13lb getting caught daily, I think it’s safe to say we are heading in the right direction. As we are pushing the main lake the specimen route the fishing has definitely become harder and a little slower but the rewards are better. If its numbers of fish you are after then head for Willow where you will get a great days sport with fish up to 6lb.

Kipper boilies have been doing the business as usual with both plum and squid n scopex getting good results. I get a lot of people saying that they struggle fishing with boilies and this and that doesn’t work, what you need to understand is that boilies were invented to deter tench, bream etc and target the bigger carp. Well this slows things down immediately and if the carp are not feeding then you will have a waiting game on your hands until they feed again, if its bites and a variety of species you are after then stick to method feeders etc and small hookbaits like sweetcorn, pellets and small boilies and you will get regular action.  Personally I fish boilies all the time I like this style of fishing and I want to target the bigger carp, you will never catch as many this way but you generally get the better stamp of fish.

The main lake is now down to 12 pegs this is to accommodate the style of fishing now used on the lake. With everyone fishing 2 rods and wanting to chuck to the horizon lol it was something we had to do. As usual it’s first come first serve although we have never had to turn anyone away yet.

Willow Pond has been fishing well to and some lovely carp and tench being caught up to 5lb on pole and feeder tactics. We put a lot of hard work into this lake this season and I must admit it looks great with the new extension lol. Once it all greens up and the reeds get established this summer it will look even better.

It’s now near the end of May and the fish have now spawned in both lakes at the time of posting this we are closed for a few days to let the fish recover from spawning. We will be back open on Monday 27th as normal for the rest of the year.

I’m sure by now most of you are on our facebook group page this has been a great addition and we are posting daily updates if you’re not on it yet get in touch and we can add you.

I have just started to make some videos for our You Tube channel Vlogs I think they are called (god help you all lol) about my own fishing and the daily running of the fishery. I am only getting used to it so please bear with me I’m sure they will get better with time lol.
