CHARITY DAY A HUGE SUCCESS.
July has been a great month plenty of sunshine and lots of great catches being reported and personal bests being broken. You will all be pleased to know that the ducks have finally left which should make for some good sport on the surface and pellet waggler before the summer ends.
The carp are now starting to put on the weight after spawning and it looks like we will be seeing a lot more doubles over the next few months which will make for some great sport. Please remember that these fish need extra care on the bank they are harder to handle and anyone who is not sure how to handle them properly please ask me and I will gladly help.
The end of the month saw our charity competition and BBQ and once again we had a great turn out and support on the day a massive THANK YOU to everyone who took part and helped on the day we managed to raise £1150 for our charity FRIENDS OF THE CANCER CENTRE.
The fishing was slow on the day with the weather being changeable and the amount of anglers on the bank we couldn’t really expect much else there were still plenty of fish caught though and the afternoon session fished better than the morning as it had warmed up a little.
Well done to Nial O’Hanlon (come on Nial!!!) who won with a 9lb common off peg 11 second place went to Keith Norman with a mirror of 6lb 9oz the weight of the winning fish is up again this year which shows how the fishery is progressing.
The afternoon saw our junior competition on willow pond which was really well attended the young anglers were so good we could not pick a winner so we decided it was only fair that they all won and each angler who took part received a trophy well done to all the juniors you all put a lot of effort in and did really well.
The weather held nicely for the BBQ and was well attended Gregory did a great job with the music big thanks to you Gregg from everyone at Ivy Lodge. There are a few people that caused me to have a sore head the next day (you know who you are) I told you all I didn’t want any more wine but as usual you forced me to it lol so I blame you lot ha ha.
Big thanks to Chris Quigley and Draynes farm for the juice and water, Darren at Kingsway meats Dunmurry for supplying the meat, Peter at Irish Bait and Tackle for the raffle prizes, Jackie and Sandra, Billy Hall, Tony and everyone else who donated towards the day.
Thanks to Gregory Mcilwaine, David Sterrit (AKA Danny Fairbrass), Mel Percy, Derek Curran, Phil Ings, Steve Wright, Barry Gorman, Gavin Marshall, Elaine, Deborah and the girls for lunch and everyone else who helped on the day.
Once again Thanks to everyone who made the day run so well and we are looking forward to next year already.
