SPRING IS ON ITS WAY

It’s been an eventful February at Ivy Lodge with the main lake netting and Willow Pond stocked we have been very busy.  The netting was a huge success big thanks to Andrew and Ben for all their help and advice. All the fish we got in the nets were healthy and in tip top condition which goes to show that what we are doing is working and the future is looking good.

The day went well and although it was impossible to count all the fish we photographed over 100 fish that were ranging from 8lb to 12lb after this there were hundreds of 5,6,7lb fish and hundreds more low singles. The net also produced some good rudd and roach to over 1lb, tench to 6lb and some big bream to 7lb.

We only netted 70% of the lake so who knows what is still in there I have no doubt there are still a few large surprises in Ivy Lodge!

Willow pond was stocked with approx. 300lb of silvers and small carp. This consisted of hundreds of rudd, roach, skimmers, and tench. Around 100 carp from 4oz to 1lb were also stocked including some nice koi and ghosties.

Looking towards the future now we have taken some fish out of the main lake and made some room those fish around the 8/9lb mark should put a few pounds on this year and by the end of the summer we hope to have regular doubles coming out and some of the 11/12lb fish should be up to 14/15lb which will make for great sport.

By now all your membership fees should be in and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued trade and support. Our membership is full again this year and anyone interested in joining please contact me via e-mail or phone and I will add your details to the waiting list.

All members please make sure you read over the rules we gave you when you re-joined as there are a few changes this year.

Getting back to the fishing and Ivy Lodge has been producing well with all the mild weather we have been getting this winter. As usual keeping it simple and fishing for a bite at a time is producing the best results with the method feeder and the fishery pellets being the best way for consistent sport. Boilies are still picking off the better stamp of fish with fish out to 10lb on this tactic. Most anglers are using the Poloni range from Bait-tech which is great quality and available in our shop. Please remember if you are buying boilies they need to be from a reputable company and good quality if you are not sure please ask me.

I have received a few complaints lately about noise on the bank please do not shout across the water if you want to talk to someone on the other side reel in and walk round to them and please keep alarms turned down to a minimum at all times.

DATES FOR THE DIARY

We intend to open Willow pond on Easter Saturday and it will be float fishing only we will have the rules for it on the website and on display by then.

A new feed pellet will be arriving soon at Ivy Lodge from Ben at BP Milling this is a cereal based pellet and the carp love it we will be selling this as well as the Skretting pellets this year.
