AUTUMN ARRIVES AT IVY LODGE

That’s another summer over and once again a very unsettled one. Fortunately we had some spells of good weather and the fishing has been steady all summer with a good stamp of fish showing up to low doubles. Autumn is on its way and hopefully we do not get any early frosts which should keep the water temperature up and the fish feeding.

We have just confirmed the guys will be coming over on the 7th Feb 2017 to net the fishery for us to see where we are at this stage all members are welcome to come and see. The fishery will be closed this week further details will follow nearer the time.

The old problem of litter and mainly access line being left on the bank is still happening this will not be tolerated please check your swim before you leave and take ALL your rubbish home.

Please remember also from the start of next year all rods and poles not fit for purpose will not be allowed to be used at the fishery no spinning rods, pike rods, poles with elastic under 16 or heavy carp rods only purposefully designed float, feeder, carp poles with at least a 16 elastic and light carp rods under 2.5tc will be allowed. There is also a lot of cheap rods on the market that are not what they say they are remember you get what you pay for and if it’s not right we will not allow it this has to be done in the interest of fish safety. If you are unsure please come and ask me and I will gladly help or advise.

Can all anglers please ensure that there clutches are set correctly on their reels as I am seeing to many people trying to play fish with the clutch to tight the fish need to be able to get line please take your time and play the fish it’s not a race and do not pull and heave the fish will come in when its ready also this is not a match venue it’s a pleasure fishery you do not need to bully fish just to get one more than your mates to many people are to clued up on numbers and weight and this has to stop.

Going into the start of October and the fishing is still steady with lots of good reports coming in. The water is still warm and there are still a lot of fish up in the water being caught on the pellet waggler and 8mm pellets and floaters are still picking off a few better fish. The pole is also producing well with paste being the best bait (if you want to know which paste just take a look at Nigel’s gear lol).
