ANOTHER GREAT YEAR AT IVY LODGE

It’s hard to believe that’s another year nearly over it seems like only yesterday we were hoping for summer to arrive (well what little summer we got). The weather turned bad very early this year which has made the fishing very unpredictable the past few months. Some cracking fish have been caught though the past few weeks with regular doubles coming out now up to 12lb the next few years are going to produce some cracking fish and hopefully a few surprises along the way.

We did a few trials on some boilies lately and Kipper baits Plum have come out on top again the results from these have been unreal and produced some cracking fish not only at Ivy Lodge but in other waters around the country. These are a fresh freezer bait and available in our shop in half kg bags if you ring in advance I can leave some out to defrost for you.

Willow pond has been fishing steady to and should produce well over the winter with roach and skimmers to over 1lb there is something for everyone to go at.

Our fish are growing steadily and healthily which is how it should be you cannot make an instant fishery it simply does not work we have some of the nicest and healthiest fish in the country and we intend to keep it this way. In order to keep our fish in the condition they are in we need all members to play them properly ensuring your clutches are set correctly and the fish can get line it’s not a race to get them in. Handling them properly when on the bank is important to all line should be slack once the fish is in the net and all fish placed on the mat to unhook them.

As you are all aware all our pegs are stoned to keep them clean and tidy if you are wishing to take photos or weigh the fish place all mats on the grass between or behind the pegs and always hold the fish low and above the mat at all times NEVER HOLD A FISH STANDING UP.

We have a few rule changes this year mainly being hooks this is to try and combat mouth damage on a few of the fish and keep it to a minimum. No hooks smaller than a 12 and no bigger than a 6 and no fine wire match hooks will be allowed on the main lake from now on. All fish must now be unhooked on the mat provided for you they are now too big to unhook over your knee if using a seatbox.
