SUMMER ARRIVES

Summer is here and what a brilliant start we have had with temperatures into the high 20s the fish have responded accordingly with some great catches being reported. Well done to Tommy Mcalinden who has had one of the best ever days on Ivy Lodge with a total of 68 Carp and Tench plus rudd on top of that with most of his haul coming on the pole to pumped pellets and paste.

Everyone has been catching well with lots of reports of big numbers and a good average size coming out. We are now seeing 9/10lb fish everyday so not long until we will have regular doubles coming out.

The Carp have now spawned on 2 occasions at the start of May and the start of June so hopefully the fishing should be steady from here on. Please remember that if there are fish spawning in the margins of your swim please stay out of this area and fish in open water. Let’s face it you wouldn’t want someone casting a hook at you when your performing lol.

The hot sunshine is very damaging to the fish when removed from the water please keep them out for the minimum of time and make sure you keep the mats and slings wet at all times as these can become very hot when out in the sun. There are buckets available at the net store for this purpose.

       CHARITY DAY 2016

Our annual charity competition and BBQ will be on Sat the 6th of August with all proceeds going to support Pancreatic Cancer. It is a good day’s crack so hopefully you can all attend all friends and family are welcome to the BBQ. Please let us know numbers attending so we know how much food we will need.

The competition will be held in the morning kicking off at 9am until 2.30pm with a half hour break for lunch which will be provided by Elaine.

With the number of anglers who fish the competition it is never a spectacular days fishing as there is a lot of pressure on the lake but it’s all for a good cause and a good days fun.

Entry to the competition is £10 that includes your lunch and BBQ. Entry to the BBQ will be £5 per head. The BBQ will start at 6pm finishing at 11pm. Please remember we still have to open up the next morning at 6am so if everyone can gets lifts organised for 11pm at the latest it would be appreciated.
