IVY LODGE IN TOP SUMMER FORM

Summer has arrived and the fishing has been good at Ivy Lodge with lots of big fish coming out to various tactics. There has been lots of carp up in the water cruising in the sunshine which is great to see and watch unfortunately the ducks have put the surface and pellet waggler fishing on hold for a while but this is all part of the lifecycle of the fishery and as much as some of you would like to see them crispy with pancakes LOL we just have to change our tactics until they go. Once they leave the surface fishing should be great fun as the fish will not have seen much of this style of fishing this year.

Boilies are still producing the bigger fish with the Poloni range from Bait-tech being the top bait at the moment and what the fish are seeing the most of.  Simple inline leads and braided hair rigs are the best set-up as always keeping it simple works best. Please remember that only good quality boilies from reputable companies are allowed no homemade boilies to be fed.

Willow pond has been on top form as well with lots of big catches of mixed species being reported soft pellets and corn have been producing the best results for the carp and tench as well as maggots for silver fish to over 2lb.

All anglers are reminded that during the summer the fish should be out of the water for the minimum of time especially on a hot sunny day. Always keep plenty of water (there are buckets for this in the net stores) on the fish and all mats and slings should be wet at all times, always make sure you have everything ready before you lift the fish from the water.

I have recently found a few rigs that are banned at Ivy Lodge because they are not safe mainly fixed feeders and elasticated types also barbed hooks have been found. Please take time to read over our rules or if you’re not sure ask me as there is no excuse for this we have plenty of signage and info about what to do and not do displayed at the fishery and on our website, anyone who does not wish to abide by our rules will be banned without refund. Once again this is solely to protect our fish and keep them in the excellent condition that they are in we have some of the nicest and healthiest fish in the country let’s keep it that way.
